Harry “Snub” Pollard was an Australian Music Hall comic who joined Hal Roach at the founding of the studio and remained for the next decade. He started with Harold Lloyd in the Lonesome Luke comedies as a supporting player.

When Harold Lloyd moved up to two-reelers, Roach promoted Snub Pollard to starring status. For the next five years, Pollard, with his drooping moustache and shy manner, cranked out hundreds of innovative one-reel comedies. The finest Snub Pollard films were directed by Charles Parrott, later known on-screen as Charley Chase.
