Poodles Hanneford was a part-time film comedian, and a full-time circus clown. When the circus closed up for the winter, Hanneford came west to Hollywood to star in two-reelers for the Weiss Brother-Artclass studio. While comedy fans may not remember the name of Poodles Hanneford, circus historians will. Just as for generations the Lupino family served the British comedy stage, so for generations and to the present day the Hannefords were celebrated circus performers.

Artclass was a low budget comedy studio with an amazing ability for luring away top comedy talent, including Snub Pollard, and Ben Turpin in his last starring series. What these comedies lacked in production values, they made up for in inventiveness and lots of scenic outdoor shooting in Los Angeles locations.
