Hal Roach always kept a soft spot for Harold Lloyd’s ‘Lonesome Luke’ character, and in 1921 revived it with Gaylord Lloyd, Harold’s brother. Although the two physically resembled each other, Gaylord lacked Harold’s comic ability and was soon supporting elaborate gags.

After five films, Roach gave up on the new Lonesome Luke series, and Gaylord went behind the camera to work for his brother.
